Bourne 4 Tennis Yellow Youth (12-16 years) Easter Team Challenge

Last year we introduced brand new internal tournaments for our young players! An internal tournament is where children from across all 4 Bourne 4 Tennis sites will be able to play competitive tennis against their peers in order to give them a chance to put the skills they have learnt with us into practice in a real life tennis match.  It is a fun event for all abilities, not to be taken too seriously, but just to give them a taster of competitive tennis. We will look to repeat these tournaments on a regular basis throughout the year so watch out for the follow up dates.

We have relaxed the rules for the tournaments in order to encourage rallies and get the children playing a good amount of tennis. We will use juniors and any parents willing to volunteer on the day to help the younger children keep score during their matches and ensure fairness. Individual scores will also be added into team scores so children can work together to try to win as a team. We will also have medals for the winner and runner up as well as an inflatable trophy for the winning team.

The age groups for this tournament are a guide, if you currently attend a group session with Bourne 4 Tennis please book for that group / colour. For example, if you attend an Orange Youth session currently, please book for the Orange event, even if the age group does not fit. If you do not currently attend a session you can use the age groups as a guide, or contact Matt to discuss which group is best.

Players will need to bring their own tennis racket and a drink. We do have some spare rackets which children can borrow if they do not have their own. There is an entry fee of £8 per player for the tournament, payable at booking. In the event we need cancel due to poor weather, we will let you know 30 minutes before the start of the session and you will receive a full refund. The tournament should last no more than 2 / 3 hours but this may vary depending on the number of players,

By signing up for a British Tennis Membership it allows the players to start logging their tournaments so the results can count towards their tournament history showing their level of experience in competitive tennis.

This internal tournament is intended as a fun way for the children to experience competitive tennis with no pressure. If it is something they really enjoy, it may serve as a stepping stone onto bigger competitions with other local clubs, and maybe even on to county level. You never know, we could have the next Wimbledon star in Bourne 4 Tennis just waiting for a chance to shine! We would love for as many of you to get involved as possible and encourage parents to stay, watch and cheer on the players.
